Ruins of the Forgotten is a first-person survival horror game about a forest ranger stranded in a jungle altered by a supernatural anomaly. Players manage hunger, thirst, and health while the wildlife turns hostile after dark.

What I am building

My work spans custom HLSL shaders for the jungle’s day and night atmosphere, animation systems for peaceful-to-hostile creature transformations, and AI behaviour trees that respond to time of day and player state. The islands are procedurally generated, so no two playthroughs share the same layout.

First-person view holding a spear, a deer grazing in a sunlit jungle clearing with palms and flowers
Daytime: wildlife is passive and the jungle is safe to forage.
The same deer at night, its body covered in glowing red markings, under a dark storm sky
After dark: the same wildlife turns hostile, driven by custom shader and animation work.
A stone archway at night framing a standing stone carved with a glowing blue rune
Ruins and rune sites scattered through the procedurally generated islands.

Where it stands

The public Steam demo is live, with Early Access planned for Q3 2026 and an expected 4-6 month iteration period. The current build brings together 3 production systems - procedural islands, day/night-driven wildlife AI, and custom atmosphere/animation work - into one playable survival loop.
